Alma Hitchcock Davis , age 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at UT Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Alma was born on July 9, 1944, in Etowah, Tennessee, to Frank and Dorothy Hitchcock. She was a member of J.L. Cook High School class of 1962 and graduated from Morristown College in 1965. Alma was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she was a Trustee. She also served in the Food and Clothing Pantry, MOBC Seniors Mission, and was Chairman of the Board for the Garden of Discovery Learning Academy. Alma was a former member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Alcoa, Tennessee, where she served in the Children’s Ministry, Building Committee, and was the Director of the Sunshine Band Ministry.
Alma was one of the very first employees at the Beaunit Fibers Plant in Etowah, Tennessee, a Sears Custom Decorator, and had a passion for selling products. She was the co-owner of Foothills Funeral Home where she served as a licensed funeral director and was also a member of Greater Knoxville Funeral Service Associates, Tennessee State Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, and East Tennessee Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, NAACP, Foster Parent with Omni Vision, Founder of HairForce Beauty Salon, Leadership Blount Class of 2000, Community Food Connection, and Member of Blount County Red Cross Board.
She is preceded in death by parents; son, Robert Jason Davis; mother and father-in-law, Willie and Lacy Nelson; brothers, Roy, Malcolm, and Bennie Hitchcock; sisters, Lydia Henry, Minnie Boyd, Sammie Dickey, and Claudia Hitchcock.
Alma is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Robert M. Davis of Louisville, TN; daughters, Lisa R. Davis of Nashville, TN, Robin (Courtland) Curry of Knoxville, TN; sons, Travis Jackson and Elijah Davis of Knoxville, TN, and Arsenio Samaniego Luque of Panama City, Panama; brothers, Harold Hitchcock of Grand Rapids, MI, Johnnie Hitchcock of Etowah, TN, and Paul Hitchcock of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Sue Jobe (Robert) of Grand Rapids, MI, and Ann (John) Boyd of Riceville, TN; sister-in-law, Betty Barner of Greeneville, TN; grandchildren, Jontae Perrin, Javan Curry, Iziah Atkins, and Kamyia Davis; several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous special friends.

Family will receive friends from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday November 24, 2018 at St. John Baptist Church 178 Bessie Harvey Ave. Alcoa, TN funeral service will follow. Interment at Sherwood Gardens, Alcoa following the funeral service. Rev. Jesse Williams eulogist and Rev. Dr. Charles Lomax, Jr. officiating.
