Charles Terrance Prater was born October 12, 1949 , to parents, Charles Prater and Sallie Webb. He was also known as Poochie to the ones that loved him most. Charles graduated from Charles M. Hall S chool in Alcoa, TN. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a proud Vietnam veteran. He was honorably discharged after being wounded in the war. He was awarded many medals of honor including The National Defense Service Medal and Purple Heart Medal. After his time in the military, he began to focus on his music. He loved to play his guitars. He taught students in the community and played whenever he could. Charles was a devoted Christian and truly loved the Lord. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. In recent years he worshiped at Rest Haven Missionary Baptist. There he played the guitar with the choir and enjoyed bible study.
Charles went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2021. He joins his parents in heaven. He leaves behind an uncle, David (Lynne) Davis; cousins Donna McClendon, Felicia (George) Samuel, Shericka Wilson; Stepson, Shane Lenior and host of other family and friends.
The receiving of friends will be 10 - 11a.m. on November 17th, 2021, at Foothills Funeral Home, funeral service to follow. Burial at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. The body may be viewed from noon – 6 p.m. Tuesday November 16, 2021, at Foothills Funeral Home. Final arrangements entrusted to foothills Funeral Home. www.foothillsfh.com
