Darren Christopher “Rock” Gaines departed this life on Monday, February 28, 2022. He was born October 4, 1959, to the late Leonard and Margie Bright Gaines in Alcoa, TN.
He received Christ at an early age and grew up in Bethel Baptist Church of Alcoa. He was educated in the Alcoa City School system and graduated in 1978.
Mr. Gaines was a Navy veteran serving 4 years on the USS Nimitz during peace time and received the Navy Expeditionary medal before honorable discharge. He was a hard worker and jack of all trades. He loved to barbecue, host big cookouts, ride motorcycles, and live life to the fullest. Mr. Gaines was crazy about his family and grandbabies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kip Gaines, son, Ryan Gaines, and nephew, Jonathan Gaines.
Mr. Gaines is survived by brother, Korey Gaines; sister, Tammy Buchanon; sons, Christopher Capshaw and Camron Capshaw; daughters, Krista Gaines-Thomas, Jacqueline Gaines, Tanjela Capshaw, and Kiya Cooper; step-daughters, Ebony Capshaw and Natoya Bunnell; grandchildren, Tyler Gaines, Lyla Gaines, Liam Stowers, Lorasen Stowers, Camden Gaines, Nyla Gaines, Landen Hall, Taliyah Lymon, Joslina Lymon, Kailani Love, Krisyon Capshaw, Zhane Capshaw, Jazlyn Capshaw, and Dresden Bunnell; sister; uncle, Walter Sudderth; aunts, Deborah Bronner, Shirley Gaines, and Minette Criner; great-aunt, Allene Bryant; special friend, Denise Capshaw; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation of friends will be held
at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2022
with memorial to follow
at 11:30 a.m.
at Foothills Funeral Home -

Flowers may be delivered to the funeral home. Face coverings are required. Burial will be at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery
