Henry “Hent” Jackson, age 81, departed this life on May 28, 2019, in Chandler, Arizona. Henry was born on August 8, 1937 to the late Ruben and Mary Jackson in Sharpsburg Georgia.
Henry was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served as a munitions specialist. Henry was known for his expertise in the plumbing industry and single handedly serviced the local Alcoa Hall community along with other communities.
Henry was married to the late Sheldonia Jackson. He was a warm and loving father who always used teachable moments to teach his children life lessons. He loved traveling the country with his family. Henry helped many people in the Alcoa Hall Community by driving them to various locations across the country and he has been fondly called, “The first uber driver.”He enjoyed all sports, attending baseball games and “playing cards” (bid wiz) with his many friends. He will be rememberedfor his sharp wit and sense of humor.
Henry is preceded in death by his wife; parents, brother Ruben Jackson Jr.; sister Willene Thompson and granddaughter Tya Jackson.
Henry leaves to cherish his memories four (4) children; David L. Mayes, Todd J. Jackson (JoAnn), Deborah L. Jackson, Howard Norman (Andrea); grandchildren, Ina Mayes, Iven Mayes, Todd Jackson Jr., Jerica Parks, Joseph Jackson, Jakory Love; six (6)great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
With gratitude, the family wishes to thank their many friendsand extended family for the kindness shown during the passing of their beloved father.
The body may be viewed Saturday June 1 st from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, Alcoa with funeral service to follow at 4 p.m. Interment will be June 5 th at 9:30 a.m. East TN Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway. www.foothillsfh.com
