James Brabson

James A. Brabson, age 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, at his home in Maryville, TN. James was born on January 30th, 1950, in Alcoa, TN, to the late Raymond and Arlena Brabson. James was a faithful member of Mother Love Baptist Church in Louisville, TN, where he served on the usher board and sung in the men’s choir. He attended Charles M. Hall and graduated with the class of 1968. James attended West Paducah Vocational College in Paducah, KY, where he earned a certificate in Auto Body. James served his country for 18 months in the Army and 8 years in the National Guard. He was employed at Alcoa Aluminum Company and retired in 2009 with 31 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Raymond and Arlena Brabson; son, Darian Jermaine Brabson; mother and father-in-law, Johnny and Robbie Reynolds; father-in-law, Eugene Weaver. James is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Debra Brabson of Maryville, TN; daughter, Jamika (Kendall) Johnson of Sarasota, FL; son, Donté Brabson of Maryville, TN; sister, Jacqueline D. Wiggins; brothers, Raymond C. Brabson, Melvin D. Brabson, Walter (Juanita) Brabson, Sr., John H. (Brenda) Brabson, Sr., Charles E. (Mary) Brabson; mother-in-law, Shirley Weaver; grandchildren, Jamauri Griffin of Maryville, TN, Jamia Griffin of Sarasota, FL, Dakota Cotner, Sr. and Devin Johnson of Sarasota, FL., One great-grandchild, Dakota (Bubba) Cotner, Jr.; God children, Dustin Lindsey of Alcoa, TN. Keiana Skinner of Windermere, FL, Denetrah Simpson of Chattanooga, TN, Class of 1968, Mother Love Church Family, a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends whom he cherished dearly.

Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Thursday May 18, 2023 at Mother Love Baptist Church, Louisville, TN with funeral service to follow. Entombment will follow service at Sherwood Gardens, Alcoa. Body may be viewed from noon - 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Foothills Funeral Home, Maryville.
