John A. Mcghee

John Allen McGhee of Alcoa, Tennessee found rest on Wednesday, September
21, 2022. He was born on December 29, 1927, in Monroe County, Tennessee.  He was the
ninth child of Robert (Nelse) and Nancy Elvira (Black) McGhee. He grew up on the farmland that
was tended by his family. He united in holy matrimony with Daisy Mae Murry on November 20,
1950. They enjoyed 72 years of a beautiful life together.  Mr. McGhee joined Solomon’s Temple
Baptist Church in Vonore, Tennessee in his youth and became a faithful member of Rest Haven
Baptist Church in Alcoa, Tennessee where he served as trustee, deacon, musician, choir
member, and church treasurer. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charles
McGhee and Robert McGhee, sisters, Lucille Davis, Della McGhee, Sally Lattimore, Ella Bea
McGhee, Kate Henderson, Thelma Neal, and Ruby Jackson.  Those left with precious
memories of him include his loving wife, Daisy Murry McGhee and a host of nieces, nephews,
and other relatives. Dedicated caregivers, Shari and Jimmy McRae, provided comfort and
support in the final years of his life. Family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. Saturday
October 1, 2022, at Rest Haven Baptist Church, Alco with funeral service to follow. Rev. Richard
Turney officiating. Entombment will follow at Sherwood Gardens, Alcoa. The body may be
viewed from noon – 6:00 p.m. on Friday at Foothills Funeral Home, Maryville.
