Joyce Pearline James transitioned from this life to reward on September 29, 2021. Born and raised in Alcoa, TN, graduated from Alcoa High School and entered the U.S. Army in 1972. While on her journey she acquired two degrees, one from The University of Tennessee and the second from the University of Kentucky. She was also a faithful member of St. Paul AME, Alcoa and served on the Usher Board.
Joyce is preceded in death by parents, Eddie, and Mildred James, (uncle) Mathew Davis, (aunt) Emma Davis, and best friend, Carol Stewart.
Those continuing her legacy, her daughter Carla Y. James; grandson, Chase D. James and granddaughter, Chasney T. White; two great grandchildren, Harper L. Chance, and Chase K. James Jr., brother, Clark James; aunt, Dorothy Davis; uncles, James Davis, and Jimmy Davis.
The James family would like to thank the Alcoa community, family, and friends alike for all the love and kind words that have been received.
A private family ceremony will be at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. There will be a Balloon Release, Sunday October 3, 2021, on the old basketball court on Hall Rd., across Fulton St. at 4:00 p.m. Final arrangements entrusted to Foothills Funeral home. www.foothillsfh.com
