Leroy “Joe” Fine
February 16, 1936 – April 25, 2021
Leroy Fine passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 in Cleveland, OH. He was born on February 16, 1936 to James Alexander Fine and Margaret Garner Fine in Maryville, TN. Leroy was best known as “Joe,” a nickname he received as a child after being told he looked like the boxer, Joe Louis. Joe loved cars and one of his favorite pastimes was car racing. He and his sister, Mary, shared a love for sports and spent many nights watching basketball and football games. Joe would strike up a conversation with anyone as he met no strangers and will be missed by all who knew him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, older brothers, Harry “Mutt” Fine, Roy “Babe” Fine, Edward “Jake” Garner, Sr., Walter James “WJ” Hollands and Richard “Red” Fine; and sister, Thelma Fine Winton.
He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory, his daughters, Sharifa Owens of Atlanta, GA, Constance Fine-Wimbley and Deborah Earls Jordan of Alcoa, TN, and Yolanda“YoYo” Langston of Cleveland, OH; and sons, Leroy Fine, Jr. of Alcoa, TN, and Johnnie Chesney of Knoxville, TN; his beloved sister, Mary Fine Murray of Cleveland, OH; his ex-wife, Gracie Earls Fine of Alcoa, TN; devoted companion, JoeJoe; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A viewing for friends and family will be at Foothills Funeral Home at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Union Temple Cemetery in Maryville, TN.
