Mack Hughes

Mack A. Hughes , age 79 of Maryville TN., went to be with The Lord at home surrounded by his loving family on August 5 th , 2022. Mack retired from Vulcan Materials Company after 45 years of service. He also enjoyed buying, selling, and trading. Mack went above and beyond to care and provide for all of his family. Mack is preceded in death by parents Lonnie Hughes and Lena Koons Hughes; brothers, Charlie Ben Hughes, Clarence Hughes, Tony Hughes, Obey Hughes, and Howard Hughes; sister, Ruth Jenkins; stepdaughter, Jamie Newcomb; son-in-law, Andre Smith. He will be missed by his devoted and loving wife, Faye Hughes; daughters, De’Ja Hughes and Bonita Smith; sons, Doug Hughes and Johnnie Hughes; sisters, Betty Whitehead (of Happy Valley) and Ruby Hughes (of Louisville); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. There are not enough words to say how amazing of a man he was, and he will be forever missed by many. The family is very thankful to the University of Tennessee Hospice Center, especially the nurse, Chandra, who was very compassionate and helpful during Mack’s final days. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer to have people donate to the American Cancer Society.
