Mario Leregas George

Mario LeRegas George was born July 7, 1970 in Alcoa, TN to Alma D. George. He moved to New York City at a very young age. Mario returned back to Alcoa, along with his wife and children, where they have made their home for twenty-seven years.

Mario loved and enjoyed drawing. He had a knack for drawing super-hero type characters. The family always told him he should create his own comic books. Also playing video games and watching movies. He had probably seen just about everything that has come out. Although he may have loved those things, his greatest love was for his wife, children and granddaughter. Mario had a very kind, loving, and gentle personality. Really easy going.

Mario departed this life on June 5, 2023, at U.T. Hospital. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel L. George; mother Alma D. George; grandmother Ellen Douglas and special great aunt Elizabeth “Rita” Robin.

He leaves to cherish his memory, devoted wife and soulmate of thirty-one years, Shelia George; two sons, Marcel George (Alcoa, TN) Jordan George (Alcoa, TN); two daughters, Sha’naha George (Alcoa, TN) Jakaira George (Alcoa, TN); brothers, Michael Carlton (Cameron, NC) and Kelvin George (Jamaica, NY); sisters, Kim (James) Marable (Dickson, TN) and Karla George Davis (Alcoa, TN); sisters-in-law, Barbara Lazenby (New York), Marie Love (New York) Ouida Briggs (New York); granddaughter Brooklyn George (Alcoa, TN). A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Special friend, Travis Goforth.

A special thank you for the exemplary care by DCI of Maryville nursing staff, Dr. Urath Suresh M.D., Dr. Oscar Grandas, and the team of other doctors and nurses at U.T. Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday June 10, 2023 at Foothills Funeral Home with funeral service to follow. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery following the service. www.foothillsfh.com
