Patrick Porter

September 10, 1944 — May 12, 2024

Patrick was born September 10, 1944 took the hand of God and caught his last train home to be with the
Angels in Heaven May 12, 2024. Born as the first son to the late Frank W. and Bessie O. Porter. He was
preceded in death by the love of his life, wife, Mamie Powell Porter and son Patrick Allen Porter Jr.,
Father in-law and Mother in- law Marvin E. Powell Sr. and Mildred E. Powell, Sisters in-law, Carrie Jean
Porter, Tasha Jones Porter, Brother in-law Marvin E Powell Jr. Patrick leaves to cherish his memories, sons
Myron (Terry) grand- daughter Marley Jo, Marc (Terica), and step grand -son, Asa Brooks, sister Sylvia,
brothers Dwight, Michael (Amy), and Terrence, brother in-law Michael, E. (Rochelle) Powell Sr. of St.
Louis Missouri. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Mr. & Mrs. Roy Scott. Mr. &
Mrs. Ronald Coffin, Rev. Dr. Willa Estell and Rev. Dr. Joel D. & Rev. Ruby Miles.
Patrick was a member of the Saint Paul A.M. E. Zion church, giving his life to Christ as a young teenager,
and for many years worked in Gods vineyard as a Church Usher, Stewart Board, Trustee, Church Treasure
and sang with Saint Paul Junior Choir, Saint Paul Gospel-lights, and Sanctuary Choirs. He retired from the
Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge after nearly 40 years of service. He also volunteered for
many years with Hospice for Blount Memorial Hospital, a former president of the Blount County NAACP,
vice president of the Maryville—Alcoa Jaycee's and former vice president of the Blount County
democratic party. He was a Tennessee A& I State University alumni, avid outdoors sportsman, loved to
fish and hunt and a big supporter of the University of Tennessee sports.
The Family will receive friends on Thursday May 23, 2024 at the Saint Paul A. M. E. Zion church in
Maryville, Tn, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with the homegoing service to follow with the eulogist
being Rev. Dr. Joel D. Miles, interment to be held at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The body may be
viewed on Wednesday May 22, 2024 from noon – 6:00 p.m. at Foothills Funeral Home, Maryville.
