Richard Mitchell

Richard Lee Mitchell, the first son born to Willie and Carolyn Mitchell born April 26,1968 at Blount Memorial Hospital was united in matrimony to Katrina Lockett Mitchell in 1999, his loving wife and friend of 25 years. Their union produced one son, Kyle Malik Mitchell, and daughter Kira Monik M Rick was a proud, respected man, mentor to many, God fearing, and he loved the Lord.Richard Lee Mitchell departed this life on October 19, 2024, to go to his heavenly home. Richard is survived by his wife, Katrina Mitchell, son Kyle (Dominique) Mitchell and daughter Kira, Grandchild Penelope and KJ, brothers Dale and Shannon (Frenchie) Mitchell. A host of aunts, uncles. cousins, nephews, nieces, sisters in law, and devoted loving mother-in-law (love). Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Willie James and Carolyn Mitchell. To know "Big Rick" was to love him as he touched so many lives.Affectionally known by many names and endearments, Daddy Bear, PopPop, Big Rick, Pretty Ricky, Coach, and Rev. Richard was a graduate of Alcoa High School, Class of 1986, and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University where he also continued his football career and became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity incorporated. Aside from being a devoted husband, father and family member, Richard made his career as an Educator where he was actively employed with Knox County City Schools for many years. Richard accepted Christ at a very young age and was an active participant in the ministry at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church as a Sunday School Leader, and Associate Pastor.

Viewing will be available on Friday October 25, 2024, at Foothills Funeral Home from 12pm-6pm. The homegoing celebration will take place on Saturday October 26,2024 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church located in Alcoa Tn. Family will receive friends from 12pm-1pm with the service beginning at 1:00pm. Interment will follow service at Wilders Cemetery. www.foothillsfh.com
