Richard Scudder

October 6, 1951 — October 26, 2024

Richard Taylor Scudder, born October 6, 1951, departed peacefully on October 26, 2024. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, James Alexander Scudder; his mother, Lorraine Walker Scudder; and his siblings, James Alexander Scudder II and Debra Poindexter.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Inger Scudder, and his children, Leah Scudder, Melissa Preudhomme (Curtis), and Rik Scudder, who were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Wesley Vaughan, Nathaniel Vaughan, Lexis Scudder, Lyndon Ewing, Josiah Scudder, and Journee Scudder, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

As a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church in Rockford, TN, he found solace in his community and in his faith. He attended Everett High School and, after two years at Knoxville College, proudly served in the U.S. Army for three years, demonstrating his dedication to his country.

 Richard dedicated 44 years of his career to Alcoa/Arconic in Alcoa, TN, where he was respected and admired by his colleagues. After his retirement in 2018, he embraced his passion for travel, exploring new places, and making cherished memories. Richard also enjoyed tending to his horses and managing his farm, which brought him immense joy and fulfillment.

 He is remembered for his kindness, strong work ethic, and love for his family and community. Richard was deeply involved in helping anyone in the community with electrical work. His passion for anyone in need was evident in everything he did, and he left a legacy of hard work, devotion, and a zest for life that inspired all who knew him.

Family will receive friends on Saturday November 2, 2024 from 11 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church, Rockford. Memorial service to follow. www.foothillsfh.com
