Sarah Elizabeth Burgess was born on July 1, 1949 to Frank and Mildred Cleota Hodge of Alcoa, Tennessee. Sarah attended Charles M. Hall School and later went on to get her GED in Detroit, MI. She later attended Vocational-technical school and received certification in COM-Peripheral equipment operatorand Pellissippi State Community College. Sarah also enjoyed playing softball, swimming, fishing and going to the casino.
She was a caring daughter who put her life on hold to take care of her mother in her last days and would open her home to anyone in need.
Sarah is preceded in death by parents, Frank and Mildred Cleota Hodge, grandson Troy Rashad Hodge, sisters, Ella Bryant, Anna Hodge, Mildred Craig, and Margaret Hodge, brothers, John and Nelson Hodge.
She leaves to cherish her memories, son Troy (Kristie) Hodge, loving daughter Daphnne S. Hodge, grandchildren Constance Hodge, Tomica Hodge, William Hodge, Dhyana Hodge and Damien Hodge, 7 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, brothers Frank Hodge and Herbert (Anna) Hodge, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Devoted friends Bobbie Ann Cook and Holly Branch.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday August 17, 2024 at Rest Haven Missionary Baptist Church with funeral service to follow. The body may be viewed from noon – 6:00 p.m. Friday at Foothills Funeral Home, Maryville. www.foothillsfh.com
