Victoria Mckelvey

Victoria “Vickie” Darlene Garner McKelvey was born February 10, 1959 in Maryville, TN to the union of Edward “ Jake” William Garner, Sr. and Thelma Porter Garner.  She was preceded in death by both parents , a brother Edward “JJ” William Garner, Jr., and a sister, Katherine Hale, along with 2 nephews Shannon D. Glenn and Sammy “Lil Sammy” L. Garner, Jr.

Vickie was raised attending St. Pau l AME Zion church, Maryville, TN .  She believed in the power of prayer and her faith carried her through many tragic events in her life . Vickie persevered through both adversity and sickness in her 63 years of life. Vickie never birthed children , but loved and cared about her nieces and nephews as though they were her own .  Aunt Vickie was often the babysitter for those nieces and nephews, as well as their children . Vi ckie was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed her. Vickie will be missed by her family as well as her friends.

She leaves to celebrate her life: a sister, Valorie George Glenn of Hickory, NC, brothers Mark Steed, Cincinnati, OH, Eddie Garner, Knoxville, TN , Sammy L. Garner, Ralph K. Garner, Sr. ( Bettye Wilson ) both of Maryville, TN, Jeffrey Wallace (Kizzy), Knoxville, T N , a host of nieces and nephews including special nieces and nephews, Yolanda Brewer (Maurice ), Nevaeh Garner, Ralph K. Garner, Jr and Tremayne Garner, a devoted cousin Bettye Lenoir and special friends Christine Hudson , Barbara Jean Hannum Payne , Donna Dunnings and Jenny Withrow .

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 , Maple Grove Cemetery, 724 N. Dunlap St, Maryville, TN.
